The National Archives of Trinidad and Tobago has launched an introductory guide on tracing family history in Trinidad and Tobago. The guide was launched during the institution’s sixth annual Archives Awareness Week from 20-24 November 2017, held under the theme “Celebrating Our Ancestral Roots.”
The guide takes interested persons through the first steps in tracing their family history and lists official government and other records which may be useful in their searches. Historical documents related to various ethnic groups are also cited, along with a directory of where to find the records.
The guide was developed based on increased interest by members of the public in tracing their family history.
